Elite tiers
| Tier | XP required from zero | Step up from the tier below |

| Gold SkyTeam Elite Plus | 280 | +180 from Silver |
| Platinum | 580 | +300 from Gold |
Gold confers SkyTeam Elite Plus — the lowest tier in this programme with alliance-wide lounge access. Alliance mapping last verified 12 July 2026. Conditions beyond the threshold: XP resets on each tier-up — 280 XP is the standing-start total (100 to Silver, a further 180 to Gold). Up to 300 XP rolls over annually.. Flying Blue resets your qualifying balance when you reach a tier. The middle column is the total from a standing start; the last column is what a member who has just qualified for the tier below still has to earn.
XP resets by the tier cost on each tier-up, and the 12-month qualification period is event-anchored — it starts with your first Mile or XP and restarts on every level-up, so there is no fixed calendar window; Elite members keep up to 300 surplus XP. XP is earned on Air France, KLM and Transavia (a home carrier of the programme), on all SkyTeam partners, and on two named exceptions — Aircalin, and Air Corsica on Paris-Orly–Corsica routes only (the latter not modelled: the route scope has no key here). TAROM is no longer a home carrier of Flying Blue — it dropped off the XP eligibility sentence and the programme footer in 2026 — so TAROM flights earn XP as an ordinary SkyTeam partner rather than as own metal. On medium-haul economy (international, under 2,000 miles) the Basic fare earns a flat 2 XP instead of the band's 5, and the Flex fare adds 2 (7 XP) — economy only, and only on that band; pick the fare brand for those. Non-SkyTeam carriers beyond the named exceptions earn Miles but no XP, however generous their percentage tables — Qantas, JAL, Copa, WestJet, El Al, GOL and airBaltic among the published negatives. Two routes to status sit outside the XP ladder shown here. Ultimate, the fifth level, qualifies on 900 UXP — a different currency earned only on Air France- and KLM-marketed flights — and Platinum for Life recognises long-held Platinum, so neither belongs on an XP threshold. And XP can be earned without flying: sustainable-aviation-fuel and charity contributions earn 1 XP per €10, so €2,800 of contributions is 280 XP, the Gold total. On partner metal the XP a booking class earns is the grid value for the CABIN that carrier files the letter under, and each partner publishes its own map — captured for seventeen of them on 31 Aug 2026, which corrected both directions: eleven publish no First cabin at all (so an F ticket on Virgin Atlantic, Air Europa, Kenya Airways, MEA, TAROM, Vietnam, Aeroméxico, Aerolíneas, SAS or China Airlines now answers unknown rather than earning First XP), TAROM and Air Europa and Aerolíneas file F as an ECONOMY letter, and China Eastern's U, I and Q are Business letters that had been earning economy. TAROM's published double XP on flights within Romania is not modelled — a per-country bonus has no key here. Flying Blue labels its own XP table and simulator indicative, and one band edge is worth knowing: London Heathrow–New York JFK is 3,451 miles, 49 miles inside the top of the 2,001–3,500 band, so a slightly longer transatlantic sector earns the next band up. Verified against flyingblue.com and the live KLM booking funnel, Aug 2026. Renewal at the same threshold, stated on the Flying Blue status page (capture Y, 11 Sep 2026): ‘You need to have the minimum amount of XP corresponding to your status to maintain it (Silver = 100 XP, Gold = 180 XP, Platinum = 300 XP)’, over the same 12-month qualification period — which is exactly what each level costs, so the bar to keep a tier equals the step that earned it.
