Asiana leaves Star Alliance at 23:59 KST on 16 December 2026, and Asiana Club is consolidated into Korean Air SKYPASS on 17 December 2026, with elite tiers matched to SKYPASS equivalents — announced, and subject to Korea Fair Trade Commission approval. It is a merger, not a shutdown. The wind-down is dated: crediting an Asiana flight to a Star Alliance partner programme ends with flights on or before 15 October 2026, retrospective claims close on 31 October 2026, and Star Alliance Elite benefits end with flights departing on or before 16 December 2026. What has NOT been published, by SkyTeam, Korean Air or Asiana, is the date on which Asiana flights begin crediting to SkyTeam programmes — so there is a gap after 15 October 2026 whose end nobody has dated. The announced matching table, effective 17 December 2026: lifetime Platinum becomes lifetime Million Miler; lifetime Diamond Plus becomes lifetime Morning Calm Premium; 24-month Diamond Plus AND 24-month Diamond both become Morning Calm Select for 24 months — a new SKYPASS tier Korean Air places between Morning Calm and Morning Calm Premium, carrying SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits — and 24-month Gold becomes Morning Calm for 24 months (SkyTeam Elite, no lounge access). Read the table carefully if you meet it elsewhere: its rowspan makes Diamond look as though it maps to plain Morning Calm, and it does not. Both airlines state that 'the existing validity period of each member's status will be honored', and that a member holding elite status in both programmes 'will be granted the higher of' the matched tier and the SKYPASS tier already held. Balances survive the merger: existing Asiana Club miles carry over as 'former Asiana Mileage' for ten years, and converting them into SKYPASS miles is all-or-nothing — flight-accrued miles convert 1:1, partner-accrued miles at 1:0.82. Alongside the two 24-month elite tiers above, Asiana Club also runs two LIFETIME tiers — Platinum and Diamond Plus — qualified on lifetime mileage rather than on the 24-month window, so they carry no Club Mile threshold and are not shown on the ladder. Qualification runs over 24 months from a personal base date rather than a calendar reset — the date of subscription for members who joined from 1 October 2008, and 1 November of every even year for older members. Boarding alternative: Gold 30, Diamond 50, Diamond Plus 100. Own-metal earning uses Asiana's published class table, which differs between international and Korean domestic sectors (domestic zeroes fourteen letters, including J, D and Z). Not modelled, and unobservable from a booking letter: Asiana excludes any ticket discounted 50% or more off the regular fare.
